The Great Leap Forward essentially lasts between 1958 and 1962. The goal was to reconstruct an agrarian economy through the creation of people's communes. It is suspect to actually, again, as I mentioned, a complete lack of foresight. And it leads to what many call, one of the worst man-made disasters of all time.
