The Kindness of a Six Year Old Boy
I think the kindness began to enter me when I was with my mom as she's dying. As a six year old, I had a really clear understanding of who my family was and who they weren't. The thing that I did not overcome was the sense of shame that there was something wrong with me. But that six-year-old little boy was brilliant.
