ELISA - Serotonin Release Assay

If a person comes back with a positive ELISA test, that means that we can continue to be suspicious that they have hit. In our lab, we use the serotonin release assay which is 95% specific and sensitive. And it is an incredibly challenging test to perform. It's often not available the same day that you get your first result back. So once that, you know, if you have somebody with a thrombus and with a high OD or with a positive positive ELISA, you kind of have to start presumptively treating just because this is such a serious condition.
