With the new woman it was such a challenge and there's such a critical backlash against it it's really hard to define what it is because whatever reading you do it depends on the writer at the time. Some of my favorite things to look at are the punch cartoons of her and again they're very angular very sort of muscular in that picture. I think meaner in many ways we can read her as a new woman even though she sort of mocking mocks them a little bit herselfYeah but at the end I think bram stoker saying yes well that's all very well and good and don't necessarily have problem with women working but as long as it's in the service of men that
