Thomas Silverstein was born to a divorced mother in Long Beach, California on February 4th of 1952. He grew up as a shy, awkward, and timid child who was often severely bullied by his middle-class neighbors. At the tender age of 14, Silverstein was sent to the first of many correctional facilities after a conviction for violent conduct. It was there at a California Youth Authority Reformatory that his attitude towards violence was harshly and definitively tempered.
