Grubhub was profitable from day one because it was bootstrapped. It took over a year to find the money for Grubhub's business plan competition in 2006, two years after the business that had started. The thing that made me realize we needed to get financing that first million dollars was I tried to launch San Francisco with Grubham and it was a failure.
