The Importance of Progress

By the end of the 19th century, a lot of people are starting to worry about ideas of progress. And so as I say, you find somebody like H.G. Wells reflecting this in his novels. D.H. Lawrence has some rather naughty bits where he argues that anal intercourse freezes from the old restraints and makes for a better world. But what we're seeing is the novelists poets too, are picking up on these things and trying to express them.
