The most efficient scientists are those that can have plausible, but diverse hypotheses. Some thinking hear about selection for selectability. I think there's evidence that at many different losi there is selection for the sort of thing t you're talking about. Could you find evidence that the rate of mutation and the nature of mutations is itself subject to selective pressure? And if it is, then it may behat the kind of mutations thatwe are necessary to explore this hypothesis space, may themselves be the most efficient.
