A lot of people get a little tense around how much we beat up Jonah in this. So I think that's the point. The reason children's books leave out chapter four on a regular basis is because the portrait of Jonah and what it says about his character is so harsh, it's easier to not account for it. When Jonah saw that God forgave Nineveh, literally in Hebrew, is it was a rob anav, it was evil in his eyes. For God to forgive Nineveh is evil to Jonah. And he shows it up and he's like, all right, you guys are going to be destroyed.
