The Role of France in the War on Ethiopia

The Suez Canal was critical for Italian efforts and it was used to supply both the Italian armies in north and south Ethiopia. The British were hesitant to take this step though out of fear that by doing so war would have become far more likely. They also refused to take any military preparations too far out of concern that it would damage relations with Italy. While they refused to do those things they were very active on the diplomatic side. France was focused first and foremost on Germany and so many of its actions involving Italy and Britain over the fate of a country in Africa were framed with an eye towards the threat across the Rhine. Some kind of non-violent settlement which would lead Anglo-Italian relations
