Verizon's Tough Business
AT&T has fallen considerably more over that 20 year period. Their wire line business pretty much doesn't exist anymore. You can see it in their operating margins, which have actually fallen below Verizon. The dividend had been cut when they spun off Warner Brothers about a year or two ago. And then they froze the dividend.
