Is There a Difference Between Visions and by Locations?

In second inthians 12, paul writes that he knows a man who was caught up to the third heaven. Whether in the body or out of the body, i do not know. God knows. And he things that cannot be told. Scholars are virtually unanimous that the man paul is talking about is himself. But because of the situation he is dealing with, he is being modest and not explicitly identifying himself as the man Who Was Caught Up To The Third Heaven.
