The Role of Data Modelers in Domain Driven Development

It feels like data modeling really should be more of a full contact sport between business and, you know, I guess the data people right now it feels like. Eric Evans book he consigns everything having to do with data to what he calls the infrastructure layer of the project. And this is totally wrong. Data model helps define and help everybody understand the business domain that everybody needs to understand in order to do their work successfully. It's one of my pet peeves.
