What's the Role of the Ritual?

According to the Taoist text, it's a manufactured way of being where you get distracted by that manufactured interaction rather than trying to be a line yourself with the way. So what does the ritual do? It contains some more natural instinctual energy and one might argue, well, that's necessary. But on the other hand, you might argue that destroys flow and vitality and ends up defeating the purpose. That's why you've always brought back. I was reminded here of our episode on Erasmus.
