Introduction
New York's governor has signed first of its kind law cracking down on Bitcoin mining. There are so many layers to this that I don't even know where to start peeling. SETI at home was probably the first example of what today we called distributed computing, but it was the same thing. A project called GIMPS is a million people currently running programs on their computers that search for prime numbers.
