The Border Patrol Ghost
In episode 164, we heard the story of Border Patrol Agent Luis Santiago's ghost. He was killed in the line of duty when a smuggler known as a poyero or chicken farmer apparently caused him to fall to his death. Afterward, his ghost appeared multiple times and stopped illegal border crossers. St. Toribio is unofficially regarded as a patron saint of migrants. In Spanish slang, smugglers that crosser higher to bring them across the border are known both as coyotes and boyeros.
