I've always thought that the bit as a comic you enjoy most about going to a town is the little three minute bit you do at the start of the show about that town. I love doing that. And I think, and people listen to it at home in a different way to the people in the audience. So for example, before Paris, I went to Newport, which is a small town in South Wales. One of the things I loved was they got a huge thing called a Transporter Bridge there,. quite amazing thing built in 1906. Great, big, enormous bridge. When I mentioned the bridge and the whole theatres, about 500 people there, the whole theatre just cheers.
Special Guest Mark Steel joins me to discuss cultural and linguistic differences between the UK and France, plus accents in the UK and a little tour of some places in the UK that you don't know about. Also includes a discussion of swearing and rude language in Britain. What is the R word which you should never say in a specific part of the UK? Listen on to find out.
