Douglas Latchford and his wife, Emma Bunker, were involved in the looting of religious statues at Angkor Wat. The couple used their connections to legitimize these pieces by writing books about where they came from or how they got them. They also helped looters get money that would otherwise have been spent on more expensive items. "They didn't really feel much regret at all being a part of it," said one former looter.
