Ahmed's torture during his previous detention in Bahrain was detailed in a report by Human Rights Watch. Nevertheless, he was convicted and absentia in a mass trial. The others got death sentences. You get a life sentence in Bahrain like you get a parking ticket. By 2021, after years of bouncing from place to place, Ahmed was trying to get into Europe to claim asylum. But on the 3rd of November that year, he was arrested in Serbia on a red notice. Interpol told us that Ahmed's red notice was issued before Jagan stuck 2016 reforms, and that the general secretariat was not informed of his eventual arrest.
