The Importance of Compassion in Military Leadership
In Iraq in particular with, you know, these young men and women serving alongside of us, they were taking more risk than we were. And so that compassion in a lot of ways stems from the ethos, which we instill in our men and women in service of leave no one behind. When I know my family is okay, but my virtue of them going on patrol with us every day, their families are at risk. They still have to use their norm to gares because if I use their real names, their families could be located based on tribal affiliation.
