The Effects of Coal Mine Closure on Home Values
A coal mine closes down and all the people that used to shop there, they don't have jobs anymore. Home values start to crash because sellers can't find any buyers. Property tax revenue crashes, helplessness increases, drug and alcohol use increases. More money is removed from the system and exchanged for drugs. And then what happens? The city dies.
