The European Convention of Human Rights - The Multiple Convictions Rule
The court of appeal found that the multiple convictions rule was an unlawful violation of article at. The claimants also argued that it was a breach of various european union and international instruments against trafficking, including an e u Directive. Effectively, they were saying this law is itself unlawful because it inherently discriminates against women. But more importantly, the court was taken by the defendants drung submissions that it's parliament, and not the court, who needs to determine what the criminal law is.
