A lot of non-stoics believe stoicism is about never having emotions or emotional responses to some extent they are correct certainly there must be some truth in this misconception. Being a stoic certainly does temper an individual such that when someone calls them a mean name they are not reduced to tears or encouraged to punch that person in the face.
