Animals of the Urasian Context
There are only 14 animal species on planet earth that are over 100 pounds and have been successfully domesticated by humans. All of the wild ancestors of these domesticated animals, except notably alpachus and lamas, were indigenous to the eurasian continent. The vast majority of animal species cannot or will not be domesticated, despite the best efforts of human beings. But according to diamond, eurasia got lucky in that it had more wild animals that were good candidates for domestication.
