The Importance of Open Telemetry in the CNCF

Open telemetry is not one tool. It's actually a whole suite that contains instrumentation for the application. The flexibility in plug-in the receivers that work for you allows you to ingest telemetry from many sources, some of which are legacy. That's why I see opentelemetry becoming de facto standard. They have an open telemetry collector, which is like the brain. And then they have also a specification for the transmission, the protocol, OTP, the open telemetry protocol.
