The Ascension of Heaven in the Greek New Testament
The Bible is coming from a different culture and a different space. The Jews, many of them were starting to discuss visionary ascents. In these ascension texts there were seven heavens. And so in this sense, they could be seen as guardians of the heavens overseeing the movements of celestial bodies.
