The bureaucracy of loyalty in the US alone, I think is a multi-billion dollar, if not trillion dollar business. This is the mundane side of the financial business case that a lot of people don't see. You could create a virtual barter or virtual economy where you just end up constantly having a balance and it can be accounted for very clearly.
