Berlin's a Slavic City, Not a German City, Did It?
Berlin's never been ethnically German as such, says author. Huge numbers of migrants came in all through history: Silesia and other areas. Berliners devotioned to strong leaders, saved them, made them more and more powerful because they could not feed themselves. They had to attack and borrow from other nations if they were going to prosper. It's natural that a highly conformist society should produce radicals; rebellion grows out of convention.
