Narcissists often show a general lack of empathy. They can feel emotions, but they can't see those same emotions in others. This is why they also seem to have really poor emotional regulation. It's hard to be emotionally attached to someone who is incapable of ever relating to how you feel and clinically, as well as chronically, they just don't care.
