I went to an orthodox Jewish primary school, the North London Jewish Day School. My mum's parents lived in Cambridge in a one bedroom flat for many years. They still kept Jewish stuff going but my dad couldn't be bothered with any of that. He used to call it Oli Wollibolli, prayers. I remember there being people throwing stones and chanting outside the school. There was also migrant hysteria about Jewish immigrants in 1940. The British government didn't think they were fighting war on their behalf. And this is very interesting in terms of what happened to my grandfather during World War II.
