Flight 17 asked if they could deviate 20 miles north due to weather, and they were approved. The crew then asked to climb to 34 thousand feet, but that request was denied. At the same time, at four 20 p m, a book ground to air missile was launched and detonated outside the cockpit of flight 17,. All three sections disintegrated as they fell to the ground.
