Facebook's Rhetoric on Privacy

Mark Zuckerberg wants to keep himself as much as possible in a self-regulating world. He's trying to create this sort of public persona that, oh, we're going to be privacy respecting now. To be privacy respecting would mean fundamentally rejecting every aspect of the economic logic that makes Facebook a lucrative company. The surveillance capitalist has worked hard against the California privacy legislation and to try and diminish it.
