The History of Knitting
The history of knitting reflects some of the greatest and most contentious issues of our time. Historians did start taking knitting more seriously in the nineties, but liz says there's still lots of work to be done. We don't know exactly when knitting began, but so far it has been back to africa in the eleventh century. But who was doing all the knitting? Ah, here is where we encounter our first complexity. And then over the centuries, knitting became more and more common by more and more people.
