When I was young, friends and family were my only clients. Nobody's going to hire a 14 year old to do their family portraits except my parents' friends. So it depends on your situation. If they're asking you to do something that doesn't align with what you already want to do, then you could say no because it's practice. And if you really love them enough, sure, go ahead and do it for them. Make it as a gift for something. But eventually, you're going to have to start saying no more and more and more due to the war of art. It's resistance, man. It's war, baby.
