The Importance of Eternity

Boethius conceives of an eternal entity as timeless and he thinks of its timelessness as conveyed by just this phrase, the complete possession all at once. Eternity is the mode of existence that's neither reducible to time nor incompatible with the reality of time. In this sense of eternal, it's not correct to talk of eternal life for human beings. Such life for human being is more correctly called everlasting than called eternal.
