In 19 o four, a forester at the bronk zoo noticed that the american chestnut trees at the zoo were developing strange, spotty, orange yellow patches. The disease had spread to new jersey, maryland, the district of columbia and virginia. It wiped it out across the eastern us. In some ways, the covid 19 pandemic has been just as devastating as the American chestnut tree blight. Today, i will be getting on an aerplane for the first time since march 20 20, flying to fin con down in austin.
