He's still at some 70, 75% approval ratings across almost 1.5 billion people. I mean, that by itself is a fairly staggering statement. He has not diminished in personal popularity, though his party often has. The real challenge for the opposition is that Mr. Modi has managed to pivot India's parliamentary democracy modeled on the British system to a somewhat American presidential system.
