The Battle of Meledus

A fleet of 48 vessels sailed out from Samos with a large force to take Meledus. The Athenians and their Ionian allies routed the Peloponnesians in battle. But soon afterwards, Tissa Faranese came to Meledus and persuaded the Pelopons not to mount a defense. This would be a huge loss for the Athensian cause as they were now under siege.
