Uber and Lyft set out to decrease the number of empty seats in cars. It's like, hey, I'm going here anyway and you can book and get into my car. Seattle has actually seen an increase in transit ridership with Uber and Lyft right at the same time. City of Houston has done some really interesting things to improve ridership on their buses.
