Mercater's World Maps

In 15 forty, mercater finished his first world map. This was a double cordiform projection shaped like two hearts lying on their sides. The northern hemisphere is on one heart, and the southern hemisphere is on the other. In 1540 at the request of flemish mapmakers, mercater also made a map of flanders.
