Joash Triumphs Over the Assyrians

Joash was followed by his son Jeroboam II in 788 BC. The Bible doesn't mention that Joash had a little help from the Assyrians, under King Adardinarari III. They came back to whack the Aramayans for a second time early in Jeroboam's reign. He ruled for forty-one years by far the longest reign of any northern king. Olive oil production expanded. Literacy, bureaucratic administration and specialised economic production emerged. After Jeroboam, Israel would go to pot - not literally.
