The Importance of Deinstitutionalization in the United States
I think one of the things that's been really frustrating also is if you kind of hold this up with some of the opinions that it brings to mind, like I don't know why I can't stop thinking of the case of Pennhurst versus Halderman. And what ultimately actually deinstitutionalization was was like a protracted many years long battle over federal powers and federalism itself. But simply recording the history and reciting the terrible of the legal record and having these decisions does actually nothing materially for the people that are at the center of these cases.
