The Importance of Separating Git Repositories

Git sub get is famous for its user interface warts. And I think Git sub modules is a is a big example of that. It probably could be done better. People have built tooling on top of Git that manage multiple Git repos with some YAML configuration file, whatever. If you're constantly merging those things into each other, then I think they should be in the same, in the same repo.
