The Impact of Palm Oil Plantations on the Forests
On Borneo, as in many other Indonesian and Malaysian areas, palm oil plantations are destroying all the forests. A foundation has set up an idea to trick people into building new Temba lands by giving them young saplings from the forest. For every tree that they plant on a rice field, they will get two of those rubber trees that they want. And over time now, a very predictive forest ecosystem develops which includes species we want to tap but also have roots that they're benefiting from.
