Ground tents are awesome for a variety of reasons, but they also have some downsides. You get up, you get your truck, you go hit the trail, and you don't really have to put things away. A good quality ground tent in the two, three 400 dollar range easily. They can be very specialized for environments such as jungles or arctic regions. That's great for the overland traveller because you're going to all different parts of the world.
