The Fed Can Goose the Markets by Buying Securities
In the four months from mid march to mid july of this year, the fed bought more than two point three trillion dollars. That was roughly 20 times what it bought in 18 months during the global financial crisis. The investments one might have made in the past now promise far less return than they used to. Low rates make risk aversion a challenging thing to practice and risk taking much more palatable.
