Is There a Second Person With Binoculars?

Police noticed that combination of snow and dark rocks near damien's body could be mistaken for a person crouched down, looking through binoculars. The fact this person never moved as they seem to stare at damien only helped to reinforce this theory. And in fact, when linda spoke to the police a week after the event, she seemed to no longer believe she'd seen a second person. It doesn't really make sense that a person would have been with damien. Given the distance, it would have been easy for this person to simply hide from linda.
