The Effects of Nectar Chemistry on Pollination

There's one species of long-tongued bee in Europe that only feeds on acanite. So I guess it's a bit of a surprise, at least to me, that the nectors are so different. They have such a different chemical makeup in two such closely related species. We find that actually a lot of natural products or plant chemicals occur in nectar and they have some surprising effects. Some of them may be for ecological reasons, some of them might be for protecting the nectar.
