A Performance Task Requires Two Dimensions
The two dimensions aren't always conjoined right you can have an authentic task but the kid has no interest in dry walling a basement rec room. The second dimension i think is under sometimes appreciated which is we want to set up context as much as possible that are authentic to the interests and experiences of kids. It's simulated authenticity so imagine you're an archaeologist or imagine you're a city planner uh all right umbut nonetheless the task reflects what real people do outside of school.
