The Restoration, a Period of Re Beautification
Under charles the second there was this continuing effort to balance and accommodate the different classes. The king pre ented as the ultimate arbiter, the sort of peacemaker among these different interests. Charles gives special place at court to his sort of preferred court philosopher, thomas hobbs. This is when the broke style, the complex, multi layered, eclectic style of the late renaissance, was introduced into land.
